Listen to Your Mother (and me, too)

A couple months ago, I threw caution to the wind and submitted a piece to the San Francisco Listen to Your Mother show. Then, a couple weeks later I showed up in person and read my own writing out loud. It was fairly awkward in that “do one thing that scares you” kind of a way. Those two steps in the audition process were as far as I ever expected to get. I was proud to simply have “put myself out there” for judgement and consideration. Creative Crush: Happy street art with Jennifer from Classic Play

Each Friday, a special blogger friend shares their current Creative Crush – whatever is cause for inspiration at this very moment. This week, I’m happy to have Jennifer from Classic Play. She’s the creative mind behind the Classic Play blog and toy company Ellie Bellie Kids. We met through blogging and then met in real life at Alt, of course. I’ve been soaking in these images and taking deep breaths all morning. Thanks, Kim. Lately, simplicity has inspired me.  I find people and Read More →

The best of summer

It’s reliably a pinch-yourself moment. I’m wishing you all a fabulous long (in the States) weekend. Hope you either have a mad adventure planned or three days of blissful rest. Read More →

The things we covet

Tiffany’s signet ring, which up until recently I had not seen her remove since high school (and that was, um, a few years ago, but I’m not gonna say exactly how many) and her mom’s brilliant necklace. I want them both. Actually, Tiff and I may have suggested that maybe her mama was getting to that special stage in life when she could start gifting some of her more treasured items. You know, to avoid detailing such affairs in some sort of official document. Yeah, that went over about as well as you could imagine. Still, Read More →
